Stephanie Principal : Wadowice

Our visit to Wadowice today was very productive. Wadowice is the home of Pope John Paul II. We went to an Exhibition and I was amaze. I know that the Pope was a great man but his high school notes were beyond excellent. He excelled in everything. He practiced ski and he rowed too. His outfits from when he was a cardinal were also there. They had pictures of him with his parents, with his friends, his sport mates …

Furthermore, he is a very love man in Poland. In Market Square, they renewed it and on the ground, they added all the places he visited along with the date during his Papal time. They even have a store reserved just for him. They sell his pictures and rosaries and many other beautiful things. We also went to Mass Basilica and it was amazing. The church is so well structured and beautiful. We went in and assist mass. It wasn’t really different from actual catholic mass except for they had some kind of role play where the kids went in the front and answered question. Personally I am happy I went to mass because I haven’t been in a long time but the language is certainly not a barrier. Even though I did not understand it was easy to follow since I am catholic and I know the material. We did not have the opportunity to enter Pope John Paul II’s house because it was close due to renovation.

Pope John Paul II actually did not choose the religious life at first. He wanted to go into acting and theater. His teachers were arrested and the university was close but he continued writing his pieces in secret.
